Whatever

My right hand is virtually useless as of now and that's not to add that I carried an overweight toddler for about half an hour. So now my muscles in that area are decidedly worse. The baby in question is none other than Erwin. I wouldn't say he's "little". He's way too big for his age. My mom, sisters and I visited the orphanage at about ten this morning and stayed there for about an hour. Voluntary work. The kids were adorable, although to a common extent behind in learning. They couldn't utter more than incoherent mumbles when they should've been singing their ABC's by now. I guess that could be imputed to the problem of staff shortage. When we got there, not a lot of them were really attending to the kids. But I'm not saying that the orphans are being neglected, far from it; I couldn't possibly state so when I just witnessed how clean and well-looked after and well-mannered the kids were. Just that, there weren't enough regulars. Whatever. In any case, I would definitely love to go back. Erwin is so sweet and I wouldn't really mind dragging his weight around (forget the figurative meaning of the phrase) because he's too cute to ever get tired of. Sheesh. I hope Hannah gets to arrange her schedule next week. I really, really love to go back. It's impossible to not to like to go back. If I'd have my way I would go there thrice a week. It wouldn't be a sacrifice since the place is very conveniently near (although parking space is scarce), and the children are adorbale. I think I already mentioned that.

dig a hole

Until you are startled by the restless workings of your mind, and caught up again in solving some petty problem. And this is where your precious energy goes. I know, because I have spent most of my energy exactly that way.

The rest I spend eating lemons, or tending my garden, or watching the seasons change. Sometimes, I simply dig a hole. I love digging holes. Does that seem strange? Digging holes is a satisfying way to pass the time.

After I watered my lemon tree, I dug a hole. I made it big enough and deep enough to be a grave, just in case I collapsed from all the work. I know this does not make sense. I also know it does not have to, because I enjoyed myself immensely.

When I finished the hole, the sun was directly overhead. It smiled down upon me. The smell of the moist earth was fine. For a few minutes, I considered the possibility of living in the hole. Then I climbed out.

How does one climb out of a six-foot hole? By leaving steps. I am not stupid, only a little strange. When I was back above ground, I looked at what I had done. Then I picked and ate a lemon. I ate a lemon, and dropped the peel into the hole.

ola

session

Had a session with the dummy launcher in the field today. Andy set it up with a blind dummy and the dummy launcher. All 3 did really great. Hazel was exceptional at watching the dummy through the air which is a good sign. Jaz was able to see the dummy bounce as the ground is so hard. The grass was cut a few weeks ago so it gave the dogs fairly easy retrieve once they got there, but it went a fair way!!!

new Cover

You’ve seen every shade I’ve been
And my color’s disappearing quickly
All for you, all from you, faded in
Like my favorite shoes fading away
